چکیده

Researchers studying daily life mobility patterns have recently shown that humans are typically highly predictable in their movements. However, no existing work has examined the boundaries of this predictability, where human behaviour transitions temporarily from routine patterns to highly unpredictable states. To address this shortcoming, we tackle two interrelated challenges. First, we develop a novel information-theoretic metric, called instantaneous entropy, to analyse an individual’s mobility patterns and identify temporary departures from routine. Second, to predict such departures in the future, we propose the first Bayesian framework that explicitly models breaks from routine, showing that it outperforms current state-of-the-art predictors. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. Application of Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Inference System in Prediction of Breaking Wave Characteristics

Wave height as well as water depth at the breaking point are two basic parameters which are necessary for studying coastal processes. In this study, the application of soft computing-based methods such as artificial neural network (ANN), fuzzy inference system (FIS), adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and semi-empirical models for prediction of these parameters are investigated. Th...

Creature of Habit: A self-report measure of habitual routines and automatic tendencies in everyday life

Our daily lives involve high levels of repetition of activities within similar contexts. We buy the same foods from the same grocery store, cook with the same spices, and typically sit at the same place at the dinner table. However, when questioned about these routine activities, most of us barely remember the details of our actions. Habits are automatically triggered behaviours in which we eng...

Predicting Mobility of Sands in the Future Based on Sensitivity Analysis Test (Case Study: Manjil City)

Sand dunes are one of the most important and sensitive wind erosion susceptible landforms whose activity varies depending on the severity of the impact of various climatic and terrestrial factors. Long-term monitoring of these factors, along with the mobility status of sand sands in different areas, can have a significant effect on reducing their adverse effects. One of the sensitive areas of w...

Progressive Spacing of Incisors and Miller’s Class II Gingival Recession with Anterior Tongue Thrust Treated with Proper Alveolar Root Housing and Autogenously Gingival Grafting

Amidst several controversies involving orthodontic treatment and gingival recession, periodontal complications of tongue thrust habit especially in adults have not yet been fully investigated. This case report presents a successful clinical case of progressive spacing of incisors (PSI) with gingival recession treated with proper alveolar root housing and autogenous grafting. A 24 year old girl ...

The Interplay of Gender, Habit, and Individual Differences in Predicting Trying Intentions

We report results of a study investigating the interplay between gender and various aspects of individual propensity to resist change in predicting IS habit and intentions to try a new system. We also explore the relationship between habit, gender, and personal innovativeness with IT in predicting trying intentions. Our research context is student collaboration in group projects. Results indica...
